If you can’t figure out your purpose, figure out your passion. For your passion will lead you right into your purpose.
T.D. Jakes
What is your life purpose? If you have the answer for this, you are a very lucky one.
I kept asking myself this question several years and, during all this time, I noticed I was not the only one. In fact, the majority of people do not really know what is their true mission…
The day when my inner interogation started will always remain hanged in my memory as a border sign between two different life reslities.
It was a normal day in the office. Lots of work, stress, work and stress again. Between phone calls and meetings, I took abbreak to look at the huge and green park that was beginning under the all wall windows of my 16 floor office. It was s fantastic summer day and the water of the park lake was glittering in the sun. I was staying in the closed office air conditioning, but i could almost feel the light wind that was making milions of tiny waves on the surface of the lake. And then and there, I had a revelation: all that energy, all that huge stress, allthat tiredness…. they were all for helping a bank sell money!
I never felt as useless as in that very moment. The peak of my executive career, the track of a prodigy child with an impressive success record in huge brand organisations… it all ended in an immense uselessness feeling.
Of course, nothing happened the next day, not even on the next after the next. I continued to come to the same office and do the same job, while, during thinking breaks, I kept staring at the same park with the same lake…. but something inside of me was never the same.
Until one day when I finally quit everything, 2 years after… When my moment of change finally came.
Since that moment, i realized that there were several things that could help me and other people with the same dilemma find the life purpose:
1. Living more inside and less affected by the outside world
The life purpose comes from inside, and it is almost impossible to find it elsewhere.
Nevertheless, we live our lives much more interested in and dependant on the outside world, risking to never discover who we really are and what we are supposed to do, in fact.
So, it is always useful to take a break and just spend some time with your inner self. Meditation is a great way and practiced regularly helps keep a continuous awareness of your true nature.
2. Drop from your head to your heart
Instead of thinking, focus your attention on the feeling. What makes you happy? What gives you joy? What are you passionate about?
Our general mission in life is to be happy. So life purpose stays exactly where your passion stays. It is as simple as that.
3. Failing is normal, failure is giving up
After discovering the passion, the ultimate blockage is the fear that we will fail. That we will not be as socially respectable as with a traditional career, that we will not be good enough or that we will just not have the right opportunities for making a living out of what we love.
All these are perfectely normal fears and they are part of the self redefinition ( they are the voice of the ego that rejects change). But the healthy path of dealing with these fears involves 1. making your passion with passion. Putting your heart in what you do, the same you would do if suceededing would be of no interest 2. being confident that what is done with passion has that special vibration that in the end will always get to the hearts of the people. In other words: being confident about your success. 3. not giving up on your dreams.
Be loyal to your passion and to your dreams. They will take you where you belong.
With true love,
Cristina
